My granddaughter included us in a family chat group. Okay for me
. HOWEVER JUST A DAY OR SO AGO I WAS INCLUDED IN A GROUP CHAT WITH PEOPLE I BARELY KNOW. ONE OF THEM WANTED TO INCLUDE US IN GROUP DONATIONS for one of her causes. Seems she went overboard and now I am getting messages daily from 40 people who are ALSO begging to be removed. I don't know the procedure.
Can you remove yourself from the chat group? Do they have to do it?
When I first got my cell phone number the old user had quite a fan club and I asked everyone to take me off. I finally had to call Sprint my carrier and not sure what they did if anything at all.
HELP!!!!

Good question! I'd like to know too!
I found this for iphone (you can just put in search bar your question)-
but not sure what it means to "tap the top of the conversation"-kind of vague.
In the Messages app, you can leave a group text at any time, as long as there are three other people on the thread. Here's how:
"To leave a group text, all participants need to be using iMessage. If you don't see the option to leave, it might mean one or more of the users isn't using a device with iMessage. You can't remove yourself from these group texts, but you can mute the conversation."
(from google)
I would rather know how to delete groups that come up from previous texts when you are trying to text a new message. Like you want to text 1 person and all these options come up so you have to keep scrolling down to find just that person!

@bonnielu You can block group messages all together. If you have an android just open the texting app and go to settings. Then More Settings>Multimedia messages>toggle off group conversation.

@bonnielu Also on android if you tap on that group message to open it at the top you'll see where you can tap the three dots. You should be able to toggle off the group conversation there. That should block that conversation in case you don't want to block all group chats which is what I was thinking at first.

I use the Iphone. I got caught up in group chats three times. Only the one with grandchildren did I want to stay with. Of the other two, one was part of a group the previous owner of my phone number had. No idea. I was not allowed to keep my old phone number since I was getting A GOOD DEAL TO CHANGE IT. (NEVER DO THAT AGAIN). The third one was from someone I know trying to get donations of some kind. Not even sure. I just want out of this. Still have not figured it out.

@bonnielu Go and google "get out of group chat on iphone" and there a couple of options. It looks like it might be different depending on which phone. If you know what iOS or what phone you have I'd add that.
Looks like you can do it from the the group chat that you want to end and if you look around someplace there's a spot that says leave conversation. So I'd open the chat and look for details or info iand see if it's under there. If you aren't sure I'd just run into a cell phone place and the person there can do it in a second but it would be good for you to know for future use.

On an iphone x look at the top where it has the number of people in the conversation with an arrow pointing to the right. Click there. On the next page at the bottom click Leave This Conversation. Easy Peasy.
