How often do you replace your TV?

I've had a 32" Toshiba flat screen for seven years. I paid $750 for it then. About a year afterward it developed a vertical line down the left-hand side that used to come and go. Now it is there all the time. I asked my brother about it (he's been in the electronics business for over 35 years . . . worked for Panasonic), and he said it had something to do with the pixels. However, I have kept it all these years anyway.

I bit the bullet and bought the 42" Lg TV that the Q had on the other night for $499, six EP's at $83. I called my brother first to look at it, and he put his seal of approval on it, said it looked like a good deal and Lg makes a "decent TV" is the way he put it. It's much bigger, so I won't have to squint anymore looking across my bedroom at it on my dresser. That TV sold out, I placed my call when it was down to 200 left.

However, I'm all nervous and jerky about it now because my old one wasn't that bad. BTW, I am giving my old one to my grandson, and he is thrilled because he doesn't have a TV in his bedroom.

Can you help me with my "guilt?"
