I have an HP computer. It is extremely annoying to have to put log in all the time. If I log in and hesitate for a minute to click on a browser the screen goes back to log in. I tried looking under settings, but couldn't find how to adjust this. It isn't sleep mode or autoshut off--just minutes before I have to re-log in. Any body who can tell me how to fix this or at the very least change to an easier log in like 1234 since I am the only one using this computer.

are you talking about the screen saver option?
click on your start button and click control panel. Click on getting started.
click on personalize windows
click on personalize windows in the blue box above that.
that will take you to screen savers and give you more options. I have my screen saver as none so I never have to log in more than once.
try that

Go to the Power and sleep settings. Then adjust the Screen and Sleep settings there.

I have the sleep and off settings for 25 min and 1 hr. But this isn't the problem. When I turn on the computer, I have to put in a password. If I don;t quickly choose a browser, say I am looking at the tv for a MINUTE, I have to put in my password again. I can;t find how to change that Nor my password. Since I have to put it in several times a day, I need a shorter password. I am the only one using this computer.

On my iMac, the setting is located under privacy and security. See if you have something similar in the control panel. If not, look under power settings or screen saver settings. There is an option somewhere to change the length of time of inactivity before the computer is locked and requires a password. You can also do a Google search.
