I'm 73 yrs old and am on FB all day long. Go to intelius.com --- don't put in a city/state. Names come up with ages - and u could find out which state. Also, go to peoplefinders.com. I just went to whitepages.com. I typed in my own name and left out my city/state, and it gave me my information ---- I'm not directed to another site.

Hi, kivah! Whitepages.com frequently redirects to another website or asks for payment for numbers not commonly available in a standard, free "411" directory (like cell phone numbers, VoIP numbers, etc.). (edited to add: There's also a www.411.com website.)

I've used zabasearch.com in the past, but it's not quite as good as it used to be. People are entitled to some privacy.

Are there other relatives who know this cousin?

If you don't mind paying for the number, go to a store and buy a prepaid visa card in a small amount. That way you aren't giving your number to an unknown website.

Re: How To Find A Long Lost Relative

Some of the sites have a one-time cost of about .95 for the info. Isn't it worth that much? I've done it many times. Some I've paid, others I do the free 7 day trial, then call or write them and cancel. It's pretty easy.

All of my own info comes up when I put in my name and city and state in google search. My whole new address comes up! grrrr!

Re: How To Find A Long Lost Relative

If you know her name, is there a possability she had a son, or an unmarried daughter who live near her? They would share the last name. However, I have found older people like me are still listed in the phone books, while the younger people don't bother with whitepages or listing their phone number. They are cellphone and FB. You might find her kids on FB?

I worked in a museum and I have heard many stories of people locating their long lost friends or relatives. There are Hanes directories. At least that is what they are called in California. They list addresses, phone numbers, income and job status for the occupied homes and building in the county. If you know her address, or even the name of the street look that up. I have known people to find who they were looking for by looking at newspapers and obits. They go to the local newspaper and search the name. Some times there is a reference to a relative, or such. If you can't find her phone number, look for a neighbor who might know them. We did that in geneology searches at the museum when trying to locate people about artifacts we had that their ancestors donated. Some how we knew a name, a first name is good, because they rarely change. We knew a street. We googled the street on zillow. Then picked a few addresses. Once we got numbers of homes on that street, we did reverse look ups. That would lead us to a phone number to someone on the street. Then we cold called. Asked if they knew the people we were looking for. Then asked if they could be so kind to give a phone number and a message. They people called!! It was sleuthing Jessica Fletcher would be proud of.

If you know a full name you could take a stab at religion. Usually it is similar to your Mom's. If it is a small town, and they are small denomination you might be in luck! If they are Mormon you are in the best of luck!

I found my father's cousins he never knew he had through ancestry.com. Someone was sharing my "tree", in this case when I looked them up, there was a phone number.

Good Luck

With the popularity of social media, did you try Facebook & Twitter? Also Google her name..might pop up. It's free & available for anyone.

I agree, Facebook has become alot like Google. I recently found my daughter I had given up for adoption 43 yrs ago...from just typing in DOB & place of birth( had no name at all). That took me directly to adoption.com registery.Only name matched all my info, from there I went directly to FB, typed in her name & there was my daughter within 10 min of searching. This was my 1st attempt at searching for her!!!!!

Keep trying various search methods. You can locate almost anyone without paying.

Re: How To Find A Long Lost Relative

I actually somehow managed to find a phone number only to call it, it was disconnected and didn't give a forwarding number. I was able to get the number for free so I don't think it was most recent info. I think anything I would pay for would be more up to date. I have tried to find her son but haven't so far.

Did you try a reverse lookup of the phone number, to get the address?

That is cool. I hope it turned out good for you and her. I'd love to know what happened, but of course that is personal and if you don't want to share that's fine too.
