How Can I Get My Backlit Keyboard To Light Up Again?

My husband ran the System Mechanic 11 from the recent Trend Micro TSV and it apparently asked him if it could stop running some stuff in order to save power ... he said yes and backlit keyboard no longer lights up.

We've got an ASUS running Windows 7. Anyone have any idea how we can get the keys to light up again?
