Ink is expensive so if you are considering buying a new printer then start by looking at the price of ink first. Then go and look at the printers that go with that ink. It's a backwards way of shopping for a printer but it can save money in the long run.

@Tori3569 --I needed to have a working printer and couldn't wait until the back and forth nonsense was over. Was going thru some legal issues and having a reliable printer was a must. I recycled them--SIL took them to a electronic recycle place.

I will NEVER, ever buy another HP printer ---EVER!!!! Had 3 of them that I bought in the last 6 years--all ran great  in the beginning, but then they started to do weird stuff and I was online with CS all the time and even they had issues--all wanted me to send them back!!!  They were not the most pricy models but weren't the cheapest either. My desktop is HP and is great----printers---garbage!!!!

I've had 2 HP printers for at least 10 years and would never switch brands.

Just curious on why you seem to have had an issue sending back a non working printer when the service rep wanted you to do that?  What did you do with them?

I agree .....  I LOVE my HP printer .... but I refuse to get a color printer.

The price of an HP toner cartridge is about $85, but I always get a generic on eBay for $19 with free shipping.

Mine is black and white, and that's all I need.

You're so right .....  A friend has an office supply store, and she always emphasizes checking how many copies you'll get from each cartridge and then the price of the cartridges.

@Tinkrbl44 ...how many copies will also depend on the coverage of ink on the page.
