Help with Browser please . .

I've been using my new computer (it's my first) for a few months now. I've been using IE, FF, and Chrome as my browsers. All of a sudden, IE is gone! When I go to IE on the shortcut menu, I get a message, " ...has been moved or changed; no longer works." I tried installing IE9, message said it was successful, but I still don't know how to access IE or get it back on my shortcut menu? What happened? I only use my computer for e-mail, chatting, and research? {#emotions_dlg.huh} TIA!
