Help Please! I need to find a free virus protection to download.....

I've been paying for Trend Microcillin for 3 years and I get no help from them other than email instructions and I have to pull teeth to even have that sent to me if I have a problem.

I'm hoping there is something I can trust to download and be secure because I do alot of on-line shopping also. I am not very savvy and would need easy instructions to help me with this. Would I have to uninstall Microcillin as it doesn't expire until June and there already bothering me to renew.

Would appreciate someone with experience and knowledge about this to help me out. Thank you.
