I switched from reading on my old version Kindle keyboard to a Paperwhite too and love it. I've also got a Kindle Fire that I use as a portable tablet but that I can use to read books on as well. I enjoy the Fire a lot, but if I'm going to be outside reading, you can bet I'll be using the Paperwhite. Inside, the images on the Fire are beautiful and crystal clear. Outside in the sun I can barely see them even with adjusting the contrast. The Paperwhite screen is easy to see inside or outside. With all the electronics today that have the hard to read when in bright light screens, I'm sure glad Kindle has kept making one with a screen that's not obliterated by glare!

I saved the charger from my broken Kindle Keyboard and it is fine to use with the Paperwhite. My BIL who is a genius in electronics showed me I could even use my phone charger.
I would suggest you cut and paste your Nook charger question as a new discussion so it will get attention with Nook users who can help you! Good luck.

So happy to see this discussion. After I bought my Kindle Fire tablet last year thinking I'd be happy to use it for reading as well as having its tablet uses, I find it too heavy to carry with me when I just want to take along something to read.
A neighbor recommended Paperwhite. Said her kids had bought her a tablet - which she never uses, but she loves her reader.
There's a Paperwhite in my future, too. Glad to see I'll probably be able to use my phone charger. What about my Kindle Fire charger? Will that work also since it's Amazon's own product?

My Kindle Fire HD and HDX chargers work on the Paperwhite.
