I use closed captioning for cooking shows featuring Jacques Pepin. I've never been able to sort through his accent. British accents are no problem for me, but Jacque's French accent just doesn't get through to me.

 

I have a surround sound system hooked up and if dialogue is too low, I can ramp up the center channel speaker to make it louder. Now the recently concluded Women's World Cup soccer tournament had the surround sound from one of the stadiums turned up way, way too high. It was easy to tell when they were broadcasting from that stadium as nearly all of the sound came from the rear speakers. That's not how it's supposed to work.
