I don't have the fire stick but I just got fire tv box and as soon as you plug it in a video comes on to help you set it up. You will need your modem/router password.

I highly recommend the fire tv box. I think I have my tv too far away from my router for the stick. and my internet is fast but not that fast. The fire tv box works wonderful for me.

I saw the fire box is on sale today. I read up on both the stick and box, but don't understand what the difference is. They seem to do the same thing.

The fire tv has quad core processor with memory 2 GB and supports high performance games and comes with a remote with voice support.

The stick has a dual core processor with memory 1 GB and supports casual games, a remote with voice support is optional and does not come with it.

I think the memory refers to RAM so it doesn't have to buffer all the time. I'm sorry I missed the stick when it was only 19.00 but I bought the fire tv on sale and it's great.

see which one is right for you

I don't have a wifi TV. Will this product work on a regular TV? Anyone know. I LOVE gadgets but don't want to buy something that I cannot use.

I have a rather large TV but it is not the latest technology for WIFI.

Your regular TV has to be a flat screen model HDTV with an HDMI connector and a USB port. The Fire TV stick provides the Wi-Fi device and the apps. This device is very much like a Roku stick, or a Chromecast stick.

You don't need a wifi TV but, you must have a wireless internet connection within your home.

I have comcast and I have wireless everything including the phone. But my TV does not have a HDMI anything. It is large and really nice but not the latest greatest technology. I do have a cable box. Any advice. What to look for... add to .. whatever will help.

I don't think there is anything that would be worth spending money on to add it might be better just to wait until you decide to buy a new tv. Although you could get a classic Roku SD player that can connect only to TVs with composite (red/white/yellow) A/V inputs. Almost all TVs have these inputs but since you already have cable why mess around with it because the picture will still be standard.

Re: Has anyone hooked up an Amazon Fire Stick?

I guess what I am trying to do is rid myself of some of the cable add ons. If I can stream movies, why get HBO, stars, etc. I don't really watch, but I HAVE A PACKAGE. The rates go up and up. I figure if I can stream I can dump the cable stuff. I could do it now but it is ATTACHED to something I want. Cannot win this one. And not about to buy new TV when my big one is working just fine.

This is a nice question to take to DSL Reports "Comcast TV forum". http://www.dslreports.com/forum/tvcomcast

Re: Has anyone hooked up an Amazon Fire Stick?

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}Easiest thing I've ever setup. Literally plug it in, hook attached cable to power source, and follow onscreen directions. Hardest thing was entering my wi-fi password and Netflix credentials. That is because I first used the provided remote that you have to arrow through to select. Since I downloaded the Firestick app on my s4 and I don't have to mess with those steps again.

I love this device and how it works so smoothly. I can't wait for them to add more apps

Re: Has anyone hooked up an Amazon Fire Stick?

I use the Chromecast which is also a stick. With chromecast you don't need a remote. You can use your smart phone or tablet or laptop. Whether it is an Apple or Angroid. There is an app for it! It's so easy to use!
