Has anyone had any luck with HP Desktops vs. the all-in-one types? I read the reviews on HSN with their all-in-ones, and they weren't very good. My system at home will probably need a new console. The monitor is fine. I don't want a laptop (already have one). My monitor is a Dell, but have read you can still hook it up to an HP hard drive. Any advise?

Never had an all in one won't buy one either. I rather have separate pieces so I can buy what stops working instead of the whole computer.

We have an HP CPU I use with a Samsung TV/Monitor plus wireless mouse & keyboard.

Yes you can use your Dell monitor with an HP CPU. 

They sell the CPU without the monitors at Staples.

When mine was old that's what I bought the CPU. We already had newer wireless mouse, keyboard plus the monitor.

You can also use some Dell monitors with Apple Mac.

My grandson's HP laptop just died for the third time in less than a year.  To HP's credit though they are actually replacing it.  I would never buy another HP after this.  My Dell laptop is going to be 9 years old end of November and still going strong.  We're on our second Dell desktop.  Love Dell.

@morganjen.....................My HP Pavilion23 is 6 yrs old and still going strong.  I like it very much.  I got it when my OVC Dell PC took a dump at 5 yrs old.  When this HP dies I will definitely buy another, not from a shopping channel, but from HP website.  I am buying hubby a HP laptop for Christmas.  I have turned into a HP fan.

I own a fairly new (2017) AIO HP with the AMD Ryzen processor. It has a 23" touch screen, 1TB storage and 8G RAM. It's the fastest thing ever. I would buy another one if I needed it.

@phoenixbrd  So are we.  AND, Apple has just released a new version of the Mac Mini.  That's the desktop unit where you can bring your existing monitor and keyboard, hook them up, and be on your way.

Before I switched to Apple, I owned several HP computers and was very pleased.  But, that was years ago and I have no idea if the quality is still the same. 

As far as not buying an all-in-one because they can't be fixed, if you really believe that you wouldn't buy a notebook/laptop or a tablet computer.  Notebook or tablet computers are an all-in-one computers and the most popular forms of computers sold.  Don't let not beiing able to fix it stop you.  Most people don't repair their own computer not matter what type it is.

I am all about the CB now I have two one is a HP and the other is  Azus . I love them I am done with windows for good and all.

If you're happy with the Chromebooks and their functionality, but still want a desktop, they make Chromeboxes that let you use a monitor and keyboard to replace a conventional desktop. They're let you use a large monitor while retaining all the benefits of a Chromebook. They start at less than $200 and are a pretty neat gadget. You can even attach one to an HDTV to turn it into a really large monitor.
