I had this happen about three weeks ago and it took me quite a while to get rid of it. You can try a few thing such as trying to remove McAfee in your programs. Go to settings and scroll through your list. You will most likely see that it was added recently. Delete it. That helped, but I was still getting the pop ups.
Then you may want to purchase another program that scans for malware. I chose Malwarebytes, but there are many different ones out there. Malwarebytes did a full scan and removed any remnants of the McAfee. The problem was resolved.

If you're using Edge browser, try this.

Actually, I was using the Duck Duck Go browser, so I changed it back to Edge.
I then followed their instructions and the virus alert window still shows up intermittently now, not constantly. How annoying!

Sometimes malicious software attaches to your device's extensions. If you have loaded any extensions then I would start by uninstalling them and see if that helps.

Steps to Remove Fake Virus Pop-Ups
.
Do not click on any buttons or call any numbers in the pop-up. If you can't close it normally, use your system's Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc on Windows) or Activity Monitor (on Mac) to force quit the entire browser.
Clear Browsing Data:
.Open your browser settings, go to Privacy & Security, and clear your cache and cookies to remove traces of the malicious site
Shut down and restart your computer

I am SURE this is fake, based on the ridiculous website. It's not a Microsoft notice.
I have an "alert" in my lower right corner saying I have 7 viruses and my McAfee license is expired, click here.
Not even trying that.
Then it changes to a little screen with 4 boxes copying the Microsoft logo and says Critical Error, click here to remove.
It's VERY persistent.
So ... I went to my Windows Defender and ran all the scans they have. It says no viruses.
After a couple days of security scans and restarts, I thought perhaps it's coming through as some sort of ad. So, I added another Ad Blocker I got from the Microsoft Store.
Didn't help, it's still on my screen.
So ........ if it's NOT a virus or an ad .... what could it be? I'm afraid to open my bank accounts online until I get rid of this thing.
Help! All feedback welcome ... TIA.
I had the same messages, so I went to Best Buy and they took care of it.
Now two week later, I can only text on my phone. I cannot get on wi-fi to go to the internet. I enter my password and do what ever needs to be done, but no luck. All I can do is text on it. Nothing else.
This phone is the worst I have ever gotten from HSN. I called the tracfone number listed on the card that came with the phone, but can't understand the people on the other end. Back to BB.

I went to Best Buy and they got rid of it. A week later and I can't get into the wi fi. I don't care. I don't need to use my phone except to text, because no one calls anymore. Every thing is text.
I use my chrome or my i pad to go on internet and look stuff up.. Even tracfone can't help me, because i can't understand them when they are speaking. So, I just use phone for texting or calls.
