I do have about 6 emails and use each for a different purpose.  I also have a gmail account but don't care for it.

 

I did install the adblock for firefox and it did take the ads away from the right side of the screen but then it asks if i want to pay the $20. for a year.  My hotmail downloads faster and I can sign out faster.  Before all the ads had to come in before I could open an email or close the email.  It's so much faster now.  I was hoping for a wider screen to type in on the emails but that didn't happen.  It's good now.

I have Hotmail and do not have ads. Not sure why you would have.

          @grannyjan, To my knowledge everyone who uses the free version of Hotmail will see ads on the side of the page unless they use an addon/extension to block them.

          @kismet,   Give the addon/extension "Webmail Ad Blocker" a try.   I think it will display the wider screen you're looking for.
