Getting in to Itunes

Is anyone else having trouble accessing Itunes? It says I don't have Itunes on my computer. It gives me a link to download Itunes so I do that. Still won't let me in. Just keeps telling my I don't have ituens installed. Anyone know what's wrong. I've had my ipod for about 8 years and have downloaded songs, ect. on there.
