Samsung is recalling millions of new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones worldwide after reports that the devices can catch fire while charging.
The massive recall of one of Samsung's flagship devices is an embarrassing setback for the world's biggest selling smartphone maker. The Note 7 was unveiled just a month ago, and big rival Apple (AAPL, Tech30) is expected to show off its new smartphone next week.
Samsung (SSNLF) said Friday it had found a problem with the battery in some of the phones and was halting sales in 10 countries, including South Korea and the U.S. It will offer customers a new product for free in the coming weeks to replace the 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7s that have been sold.

I have an iPhone, so I'm not a player in this one, but i certainly hope that everyone who has one of these phones doesn't take a chance with it.......especially on an airplane. It seems like there are always a few jerks out there who thnk nothing is going to happen........this is really serious!

I was also wanting one really bad, but held off. I still have a Note 3 that works perfect, so I was having a hard time justifying getting a new phone "just because".
I wonder when they will come out again? I'm thinking I can get a refurbished one and save a few bucks now since they will have millions of refurbished ones to sell.

I have a Note 5. My contract with Verizon expires in 2017. I would not buy a Note 7 under any circumstances. I would buy an iPhone. The two phones are the same price, and the iPhone is safe. Will a refurbished Note 7 have a warranty?

Yes the refurbished phones will most likely have the regular warranty. I won't be afraid the refurbished ones will still be dangerous. If they know the phones have a problem, they wouldn't dare put them out again still having a problem. That would most likely ruin their name and kill their sales for the future not to mention law suits!
I really love my Note! I'm not saying I might switch to the Apple....I just don't think I want to.
