I'm using my third Samsung S6 Lite. I've also had had 2 I-Pads but prefer the Android operating system and expandability.

Amazon Fire Tablet user here and appreciate the devices are under $50.
One is almost 10 years old and use for games and social media. Still runs fine and dandy.
The other tablet is about 3 years old (lighter/thinner model). Use newer one for local library Libby ebooks/audiobooks mainly.
I don't do any banking or online shopping on my tablets. My own personal preference.

I have had quite a few tablets over the years. I prefer iPads.
My favorite was the mini, just because of the size of it.
I currently use an iPad Air. I have no complaints, but prefer the smaller size....personal preference.
You can check the Apple website to checkout the different models to see what would work for you.
You can also look for refurbished iPads on the Apple site. I have purchased several of those over the years too. They arrive packaged like brand new and carry the same warranty.

@newjersey I have iPads and enjoy using them because they sync with my other Apple devices. My latest is a 10th generation that does not have a home button. Adapting to that was fairly easy.

I started with the iPad mini, I now have the 10th generation. Even though my phone is Android, I like the iPad because I can watch Apple TV on it and use my Air Pods.

What @Carmie said. I have had android and fire tablets as well as iPads. Imo, there is no comparison between the three. Because of hand size, my iPad of choice is the iPad mini. Don't let the price turn you away. In this case, you get what you pay for. They will go, and go, and go and work flawlessly and quickly the whole time.
And I'm not an Apple snob. I have an android Tracfone, because I don't use a phone much. I can get a decent android phone for a good price. Unless I purchase an unlocked iPhone, which is more than I want to pay for a phone, the Tracfone iPhones are expensive and outdated. So I purchase good android Tracfones and are happy with those.

@newjersey : I love the iPad but can no longer afford them or the sale price. I was able to buy the Amazon fire tablet: one for me and one for DH with Amazon prime deal.
