First Time Tracfone User Sucessful Activation

Hopefully this post will help others activate with less stress and complications.

After spending weeks reading QVC and HSN community posts, I was prepared for activation issues.  I purchased the phone for my husband.   I use an iPhone and iPad  so am somewhat tech knowledgeable .  This was my first experience with a  Tracfone.

The LG Sunset has WIFI  so after charging the phone I connected to our Wifi do my husband could practice using some of the features BEFORE activating the phone. I found an online tutorial for the phone.   You get only a small pamphlet with the phone.  I had him practice using the camera as well as had him set up his contacts.  We were transferring off our Verizon account so I was not sure if I would find an app to do this for us.  It was good practice and he did not mind doing it manually.

This is my husbands first smartphone. He is retired and uses a Kindle, so reading through the tutorial and getting used to the touch of the keypad setting up his contacts was a big help.  Yesterday, I activated.  After reading the boards , I decided to call CS to set uo instead of doing online.   I FOLLOWED The  BLUE CARD.  Called that number 800-816-0663.  Follow prompts and go to technical support.  Got connected to CS rep and everything was done by them.  I did need to provide my Verizon acct info and Verizon password.  I had a bit of a wait while CS ran an update. Otherwise, all went smoothly.   One hint. Make sure to go to phone settings and turn on Wifi and phone data off while at home.  Hope this helps others

i ordered one for my husband, last week. he's retiring and just doesn't need an $$ phone. i ordered when it was a TS and had no problems transfering from my old tracfone.  i hope it will go smoothly for his set up too. i think reading everything and having patience, makes for a better experince too.

i'm happy to hear a sucess story!

I got the last Tracfone from the southern channel - had many problems getting it activated and then I couldn't get my 1350 minutes until I called the southern channel customer service - she called them and within minutes I had my minutes- once activated  it is a FABULOUS phone - love the 5" size and the 4G.  Their customer reps are just the best.

I got my phone, activated it but it's so complicated to use that I set it aside two months ago and never even put my contacts in it.  I'm sure my free minutes probably aren't on it.  When I set up that grid pass word, I didn't understand it and now I seem to be locked out of my own phone.  I wish I'd kept my old one.  Totally lost interest in it.

Re: First Time Tracfone User Sucessful Activation

DH & I both have recently gotten new tracfones from HSN and had no difficulty at all getting them set up and our numbers and min & service transferred. Mine was right at Christmas so they were busy at tracfone and it took 22 hours to occur but it did, in fact, happen within the 24 hours they give themselves to set it up. DH was in April and it went through within a few min. HSN has really perfected the setting up of these tracfones. I'm sure they are doing a great business with them.

Up to now, I have had 4 different  phones using Tracfone, my newest is a smartphone that I bought form Ebay.  I'd say that I've been a tracfone customer for the last 5 years. I had more trouble with the first 2 phones trying to activate it over the phone than I did this last time when I did it all online---easy, peasy. Like most things  tech, it has gotten much easier. Still kept my original number and my original triple minutes text data too.
