This morning, chaos ensued as I set up a passcode yesterday and then TOTALLY FORGOT it today!
The important things are 1) write it down
2) backup to iTunes every day!
WHEW! Emergency over!

@LTT1 I feel your pain.I learned my lesson a few years ago when I forgot my banking passcode . I now write them all down on a couple of index cards.

I had that experience with Apple. Spent a long, long time on the phone with them to re-establsh passcode. Itās not like other companies when password is lost. I Did not even want to passcode, but Apple was insistent about it. I set it up so I only have to enter it every few hours, I think itās 10 or so. . Glad you got help from Apple. People should write down their Apple passcodes so they are not forgotten.
Why back up up to iTunes?? I never do.

Lordy, I feel your pain! My Apple ID got disabled and that means death to all my apps and updating. I have talked with Apple reps from the store to the Special ID reps.
They never come through for me. So I am left dangling.

i have to say that this morning, at first, I really thought we would have to visit Apple today. But we didnāt.
here is what I did:
Googled āI forgot my password and now itās disabled.ā
This took me to the actual Apple site. You must connect to your ITunes for this plan to work. All of your IOS deviceās data is kept thru ITunes. By restoring thru iTunes, you will get back everything (so far) but pictures/videos unless you have used iCloud to store them, then you will get those back too.
Happy camping!

I avoid owning Apple products due to my disdain for ITunes and their password bs,

So the apple iPad forces you to use a password for everything or just iTunes? I understand that everything requires a passwords/codes, but are you saying you have to enter it every day?

For anyone if interested:
I was playing around and decided to attempt setting up with a passcode. Why? Because I thought I might like to try Apple Pay or pay with Touch ID.

I donāt know about the iPad, but for the iPhone you can reset it the length of time that your phone stays active before you have to enter the passcode. Mine is set for the longest time, 4 hours. It seems that every time I use the phone, it resets the 4 hour time period. I use the phone a lot during the day, so usually only have to enter the code once a day. Iām not sure how this is a security feature because if someone gets your phone and keeps using it, and extending the time before the passcode has to be re-entered, then whatās been gained? Iām going to ask my techie friends.
