We do use the router/modem from Spectrum for TV and Mac Book Air...I want to purchase our own, husband thinks we should just keep what they rent to us, since they hook it up and I know if I buy one, we will have to make the connection on our own.

Tell your husband he is paying at least $120 a year for the company to hook up the router.  Over time, that really adds up.  It is not difficult and there are planty of videos and written instructions online to show you what to do.

I hear ya bout spectrum. We have fought with this company since it took over time warner, not a happy camper.
