For my Apple 3 I only had the magnetic covering over it and it was fine. I live alone and am the only one to use it.
So, when my daughter bought me a new one, for some reason she put a massive cover (front and back) over it! Good grief! I'm 70, have arthritis in my hands and it's hard to hold it. It's sooooo heavy.
I hope I didn't hurt her feelings when I said she could have the front and back protective stuff back! Ha! She kept saying, you need this. I said, "I've never dropped it".
The color of the new one is beautiful.

@nana59 I've not encountered that...but when I have issues, I do the old standby of double clicking the home button, and then swipe each of the apps that show up off the screen (or with older iPads X-ing out the apps to close them out). After I've done that, I'll hold the home button AND the power button AT THE SAME TIME until the screen turns black, the Apple icon comes up and then the screen turns black again. That kind of resets/reboots everything (not the same thing as a real reset down through settings). Those steps usually resolves any hiccups for me.

@gidgetgh I'm looking at the IPad a Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro right now. I need something that I can actually do work on (versus Internet and emails as I do on my regular iPad). Did you consider both and if so, can you help me understand why you are favoring the iiPad Pro?
@Mrsq2022- to be honest, I only look at Apple products. SO reliable and I already have an iphone and an iMac. I love the continuity of having my emails, pictures, etc. across all devices. I love that the three devices I have all "speak" to each other.
@gidgetgh I am an apple user at home, but a PC user at work. I really, really like the idea of the Apple but felt it might be easier for work-related things to stick with the Microsoft product. I do not have an Apple store near me. Maybe I need to research this a little more. I also like how well my Apple devices speak to each other, but the one thing I've never had is a Mac computer for work. I've always used Apple devices (phones, iPods, iPads) in my personal life, but PC for work.

I'm a geek, too, and I enjoy seeing these events and new devices/software. I'm not in the market yet because my Apple devices are such workhorses they don't need replacement... darn it! This website is a great one, and they usually have a pretty good track record with Apple rumors... article is long, so go to the link, but here are a few points:
"Let us loop you in: What to expect from Apple’s March 21 event
A smaller iPhone, a smaller iPad Pro, and a shotgun blast of smaller reveals.
To get you prepared for the big event, we've rounded up the most likely rumors and added our own educated guesses and commentary. Check back on Monday to follow along with our liveblog and all of our post-event coverage.
Return of the 4-inch iPhone...
Return of the 9.7-inch iPad...
Some Apple Watch updates, but no updated Apple Watch...
Software-palooza...
Maybe Macs? But maybe not...."

@nana59, We discussed this in your January thread, and you said you fixed the settings on your iPad and the problem was resolved. Have you changed the settings again? The settings vary a bit based on which email service you use. I'll just post basically what I said on the other thread.
Your email resides on the provider's server, also, and not just on your iPad. Depending on which email service provider you have, there are ways to change your settings so that if you delete a message on your mobile device it also will delete it from the server, and also you can make changes which cause messages to disappear or reappear when the device syncs with the server.
One way to check up on this and to see how the server and the mobile device work together... use the browser, on your computer or your mobile device, and log into your full "desktop" version of the email account. Take a look at the trash file/folder, there.
(eta: On iPad, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and choose the email account in question to work with the variables.)

@Annabellethecat66 and anyone else who has arthritis issues or is looking for a comfortable way to hold your iPad, check out the iPad pillow. I bought one on Amazon a couple of years ago and can't live without it. I don't have arthritis but use this every time I use my iPad or read on my ereader.
This was actually originally sold as a book pillow for people with arthritis so they wouldn't have to hold heavy books. I even found a smaller version at The Dollar Store. I am in Canada but my iPad pillow came from Amazondotcom.
Check it out! LM

@Lilysmom I found it! It is amazing! It makes it so easy to hold on to the IPAD and even walk around with it. It will twist and turn and is very secure and can be removed. I found this when I saw a show about young kindergardners using IPADS. They were walking everywhere with it (their hands slipping under the strap). The show said it had never fallen off (unexpedetedly) and it survived 4 and 5 year olds! Ha!

@Lilysmom Here's another video explaining the holder. I have the cover they mentioned and you can use that to hold up the IPAD (got it the B electronics, etc). The one I have is stretchable black elastic and doesn't have a back with it (makes it heavier, I think). I don't drop stuff and no children so I don't want anything that will add weight.
Lily, this thing is really good. You can walk around the house with your hand slipped through it and know it won't fall off. The one I have is velcro adjustable and black. You can buy extra (maybe and extra one comes with it) so you can unvelcro the Grab it from the ipad and move the strap to another computer. Just put the circle that attaches to the back of the computer. I can't yet find out where I bought it. I would think the leather strap might be more expensive than the elastic one I have and I sure don't want a backing. The one I have has an e (just an e) on the front of it.
Hope this helps you too. I recommend this cover, it's lightweight, totally magnetic and does the job well.
I'm all about gadgets. I'll keep trying to find out where I bought mine. So sweet to think of me.
