@SharkE, I don't know where you're planning to purchase your Apple product, but I purchased my Macbook Pro 15 last year at an authorized Apple retailer (a local store authorized to sell and service Apple products).  They transferred all my photos and files from a Windows 7 computer to the Macbook Pro free of charge.  They spent a good hour and a half with me one-on-one making sure I knew the basics of how to use the computer as there is a learning curve.  I've called them numerous times with questions, and they are wonderful  I also took a class there (only $45) to learn more about the Macbook Pro as it was my first Apple product.  It was a wonderful experience, and I will buy from them again for the service alone.  I highly recommend either purchasing from an independent retailer who specializes in Apple sales and service or from an Apple store.  Really not much more expensive than anywhere else, and the service is priceless.

Probably not. You generally can't transfer from a mac to a windows computer.

No,  your Windows computer doesn't have a Thunderbolt connection.  You need an external hard drive to transfer your photos.  You'll also need an Thunderbolt adapter to connect the external drive to your Mac.

Agree.  I would purchase an Apple product only from: Apple on-line, OR an Apple Retail Store, OR an Apple Authorized Reseller.  I woud NEVER purchase Apple products from ANY TV shopping channel.  In addition, I recommend Apple Care to extend the warranty and get access to Apple's tech support for a full 3 years.  I would NEVER trust "3rd Party" sources that are offered "free" as part of a "bundle".

Apple has not upgraded the Mac Mini since 2014. Is this product going to be discontinued?

Sierra, is the latest OS, but, the tech told me it was still buggy and to keep

El Capitan OS.

I'd rather keep something that works no matter how old it is then to undergo updates the 2nd wed of every month and gird your loins waiting to see what it has tore up this go around. LOL
