Does Anyone Know How to Watch Movies

Ladies, I was wondering if anyone knows how to watch past TV shows? I have become interested in the TV show RINGER. I have cable TV. I get everything you can get on cable, yet I can't get the shows in the beginning of Ringer. Is there a way I can watch the beginning of this show on my IPAD? My daughter said it isn't offered because it is on WDCWD, channel 50 here in the DC area. Thanks.
