Does Anyone Know How To Watch ITV In The US

Does anyone have any experience with ITV? I don't know a lot about it, but I believe it's a British channel and I think there's a way to watch it here in the US. I'd like to know where to access it and if the site is safe and is there a subscriber fee?

Do you have the Chrome browser installed on your computer? If not install it. Once installed then go to Google's App store (by clicking on "Apps" and then "Web Store") and enter "Hola" in the search box and the top result will likely be "Hola Better Internet Engine." Install that and you should then be able to install and run the ITV Player (available on their site) to view ITV programming. (I'm not sure if you can see it live or on tape, but you should be able to see it.) The Hola extension lets you pick which country your computer appears to be from so as far as the folks at ITV are concerned you're now from Great Britain. That should work for you. If you have any trouble, pop back in and I'll see if I can help.

You need to get a proxy server/vpn which you might need a paid subscription for.

Here are a couple they run on either IE or Firefox

Hotspot shield and

you also need a good broadband connection too, BBC will let you download to watch later but ITV will not

jackthebear, I did read a little about a proxy server/vpn and wasn't sure I wanted to get involved with that.

gardenman, I do have the chrome browser on my pc and will look into your suggestion (which sounds great).

Thank you both for the response.

smokymtngal. I'm not sure Hola will work for you. I took a look, registered using a London postal code, and tried using Hola and it'll let me get access, but then I have to enter a postal code for where I am and none I've tried have worked. I suspect I need the postal code for wherever the Hola servers are located in the United Kingdom and I don't know where that is. I've tried using several London postal codes and a few more rural ones to no avail. Everything looks good then you get the message that the program isn't available in my location. Good luck. Let me know if you figure out a way around the roadblocks. (By the way, there is a subscriber based service called Tunnel Bear that might work for you if you don't mind paying $4.99 a month. I'm not sure if the postal code roadblock would still apply there or not though. You can try it out for free for the first 500 mb's, so it might be worth a shot.)

gardenman, thank you for the additional information. I was afraid it looked too easy. If you couldn't make it work, I'm quite certain I will not be able to. Looks like I'm back to some kind of paid subscription and I'm not sure that's what I want. As always, I appreciate your help.

What shows do you want to watch? I subscribe to Acorn TV and really like it.

Re: Does Anyone Know How To Watch ITV In The US

you will need a Postcode to watch ITV eventually, I think your best approach if the chrome addon doesn't work is to try on off the paid services for a month and see how you like it.

FWIW I have had no issues with Hotspot on my laptop and you could just buy yourself a Visa Giftcard for it.

What do you want to watch?

Re: Does Anyone Know How To Watch ITV In The US

glb613 and jackthebear, I just saw the additional replies to this thread. The only show I really wanted to watch is the new season of Broadchurch, which just started in the UK. It will be on BBCA starting in March and I should just wait for it. But last season they did such a hatchet job on the show. Several people who watched the original commented that BBCA cut out some scenes in every episode, some of them that were important to the plot (for more commercials, I guess).

I will check out both of your suggestions, Hotspot and Acorn TV. Thanks.

Re: Does Anyone Know How To Watch ITV In The US

Acorn TV is great but it doesn't have shows/episodes that are currently on air. Have you watched ""Midsomer Murders""? It's one of the reasons I have a subscription.
