You could probably get a Chromebook and Kindle HDX for the price of one IPad. You'd have two awesome fast products for the price of one.

I agree with NOT putting money into an old desktop. When I got my laptop, I got rid of my desktop and never wanted another desktop.

I leave my laptop on the kitchen bar and use it for browsing/shopping. I use my Kindles for reading and games.

Just a thought...

There are also Chromeboxes that can be used as desktop replacements. Amazon has an HP Chromebox complete with a wireless keyboard and mouse for $153.80 (at this moment though prices fluctuate wildly.) That would let you continue to use your larger monitor and play your Facebook games on it for a minimal cost with no virus/malware issues. They're also tiny little things that take up little to no space. If you've got a nice big monitor one of those might be another option for you.

Call Dell Customer support. Even though computer is out of warranty, they charge a one time fee of $129 and they can fix your computer.

I have all three. Only use my desktop for working from home. I'm on my iPad daily and for hours. Laptop has dust on it.

Re: Desktop, Laptop, iPad, tablet??????

I typed out a long response and I guess I lost it. I'd keep the ipad. That's what I did anyway. I spent years with a laptop and I'm done with all things able to get viruses. I got one on my Dell laptop that was so bad, my husband took it to the tech guy at work and he said it was the 2nd worst case he'd ever seen. It had over 2,000 viruses on it. As careful as I always was and as diligent as I was about anti-virus software I trusted something I shouldn't have and downloaded it. He worked a miracle and wiped it clean and managed to save all my stuff but a year later the motherboard died. They said motherboards don't die, it's a virus that kills them. I'm done. I'm all apple now. They say that won't last once more people go to apple and hackers follow but for now it's nice to be able to surf on my ipad. I haven't touched my PC in months and I chose the ipad over a new laptop. Although now I'll be getting the MacBook Air. And we've got the Kindle HD, Kindle reader & an android tablet. They don't begin to compare. They're clunky, freeze up, don't download reliably and the Kindle uses so much bandwidth we have to take it offline to watch netflix. I'm able to do everything with my iPad that I did with my laptop (so far). Facebook games might be an issue, I'm not sure but surfing Facebook is just fine. I sell online and do payroll and I don't skip a beat. And I can print when I need to. Anyway hopefully I'm not posting twice here but what can I say, I got the Air and love it so much that my husband got me the 4th gen. Still not sure why the need for two except that he loved seeing me so happy.

Re: Desktop, Laptop, iPad, tablet??????

I've never had a desktop top but do have an HP laptop and just upgraded to the IPAD mini 3. I rarely use my laptop anymore except for typing documents. Use my iPad mini for everything else. It's portable and very fast. I think faster than my laptop which is only a year old. I have a keyboard I can pair with the mini but have never used it just drag out the laptop. I have an AirPrint printer so can print from the mini. Also can sign up with Cellular providers when I'm not within wifi range. I think a laptop and iPad would suit all your needs.
