I go to a website like QVC and I try to pull the website link to my desktop and instead of getting the QVC symbol I get a chrome circle instead. I then have to make up my own with the change icon choice and it is not the same symbol. I use a shopping cart I have found somewhere else.
I am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to put the exact icon on my desktop and not have it taken over by the chrome symbol. What am I doing wrong or how can I make the change. Is it Chrome? Should I try to go to Internet Explorer or Firefox, not that I remember how to do that.

Perhaps your troubles lie with Chrome. I am not computer literate, so I always have my husband do major updates. He hates Chrome. He is very careful to make sure Chrome does not load on my computer. I had gotten it loaded once and he immediately deleted it.

Why not just put the website in your "favorites"?

@2blondeThat's what I do. Windows 7 here and it works every time. I do have Chrome, but use it only for weird situations when a techie is asking me to.

@millieshops Yes, I mostly use Chrome, but I find a few websites work better with Explorer (haven't used Firefox for awhile). I have all my favorite websites listed in both, and I use them all the time!

I guess I used to just copy and paste the website to my desktop and get the licensed icon and it was easy. Now everything turns to a circle and I have to create a new icon from the freebies.

Hi @bonnielu,
I will be posting a link farther down from Microsoft Answers on how to make a website shortcut onto your computer desktop.
It used to be easy enough to do it in Vista where you could right-click with your mouse to get a drop down menu and do it with your mouse in one step, but it looks like it changed for Windows 7.
In the link, there is a user who gives a step-by-step answer to the first user's question-who asks how to do it- as you read down.
He says that you still right-click with your mouse, and then you can label your website choice and then click "next" and "finish" when you are done.
Here is the link for how to do it with Windows 7:
