Dell questions

Bought Dell 15.3 laptop in May. Making the adjustment from XP to W9, but have a couple of issues I can't seem to find the answers to:

1) For no apparent reason and at no regular time the computer makes a "suffling" sound much like the sound when a CD is edjected.

2) For no apparent reason and at no consistent time the computer shuts down...screen goes to black and I have to turn it back on. When I do, the screen tells me "windows is resuming." I have checked hibernate, sleep setting, etc. but can't seem to find the answer.

Haven't been able to get to Dell techs yet b/c I'm dealing with a vision problem (double vision) and have been in and out of drs, labs and mri centers to find the reason.

Just don't have the patience to deal with overseas help.
