Just noticed that Dell always only says the physical size of their laptops and never mention the actual resolution (pixels by pixels). When I looked at the specs, their 17" was 1600X900, which is the same as I have on my old 15" laptop. Currently, you can get even smaller sizes with 1600X900 resolution.
It might by 17", but it can't even do full 1080 HD videos (without dropping or merging the pixels somehow). Just something to keep in mind..

Full HD is 1920x1080. That is about all I can tell you as I know nothing about any laptop resolutions. Remember that 720p and 1080i are also considered High Definition. The best however(excluding the upcoming? 4k) is 1080p at the aforementioned resolutions and at a 16.9 aspect ratio.

You can buy laptops with FHD or 1920X1080 displays. You do not find this screen resolution in most of the everyday laptops found on QVC. This feature is found on most game or media laptops and can come with a higher price tag. Toshiba sells laptops with type display at Best Buy. Dell was selling a XPS laptop with a retina display on their site. It had a high price tag.

QVC seems to sell older, lower quality, specially modified computers. They are not the place to buy from. Did I mentioned over-priced? But the specs are usually there in the description of the item number. I am not sure if they even sell touch-screen which you really need to work Windows 8.1.

You don't need a touch screen for Windows 8.1. I have a touch screen Dell and never use it. With the latest updates, the computer doesn't load to the tiles. The desktop has shortcuts if you want or if you want to get to the apps, press the Windows key then the down arrow.
