If you're responding to my previous comment, there's a difference between WiFi and FREE WiFi. Not many people have free WiFi at home.
Why didn't you make things clear. You have cellular internet which has a data cap. Everyone I know has cable or DSL and a wireless router. It may not be free but it works and I don't have a data cap.
I didn't "make things clear" because I forgot that there were people like you here.
What's that suppose to mean?

I know it is coming, and am not happy that they can get away with charging that way. I stream a lot of video from netflix and amazon, etc. I also work from home, so am using data all day for working sending and receiving large files. Also, my work uses webcams for meetings, and I have many throughout the day. This switch in pricing is going to cost me a fortune. On 2/23/2014 Lynnj said:On 2/23/2014 wildcat fan said:If you have internet at home, maybe hooked up to a computer, then you need to buy a wireless router. Connect the router to the internet router that the cable company, or other company provided for your internet. Then you have free wifi at home. On your pad you'll bring up the wireless router in the wireless settings, hit connect, and you are now on the internet for free. I also have my phone connected to my router at home. All free. No data used. I assume many, if not all, using devices at home connect this way.On 2/23/2014 glb613 said:Who would buy a Kindle without Wifi at home?

I have AT&T. The data used through our WiFi is applied to our monthly plan. We do not have unlimited data. AT&T tracks the amount of data used by the laptop, the iPad, etc. Once we've reached a certain limit, there are overage charges.
I live in an area where the city provides free WiFi, but it is not secure. We do not have many internet provider choices. There are some homes within 10 miles of my house that don't have internet or cell phone use at all.
This is information about the data plan changes in certain states.

If you need a large amount of bandwidth, people change to a Business Plan for their internet service.

Getting back to the OP's topic -- the Hosts on the Q will say (and do) anything to make sales!!!
That's their bottom line...especially with the electronics TSVs with the 1 hour long infomercial hard-sells.

I would think lots of people. You can go anywhere they have free wifi, to the library, a coffee shop or fast food place, get your books and audible books, go home and read! And see the pictures in color.
I have to agree with your comment, otherwise why do I see so many people sitting in B&N, coffee shops, and so on day after day using their wifi. If they have it at home I would think it would be a lot more comfortable then sitting on those mostly hard chairs all day long. Just my thoughts.

The iPad can be connected to any TV that has an HDMI port using an AV adaptor. You do not need an Apple TV to view content from your iPad on a TV.
When I first started teaching iPad classes, I used the HDMI adaptor connecting my iPad to a projector. Using this adaptor the iPad will be directly connected to the TV.....tethered.
Now I use an Apple TV so that I can walk around the classroom, untethered, while teaching, but it is possible to have the iPad projected to a TV without an Apple TV.

Sure, it's free if you use it at a place where you have free wi-fi. If you don't have free wi-fi or unlimited data, you're paying for that Skype chat. I don't have unlimited data and find that I could easily be fined overage charges for going over my monthly limit if I frequently use something like Skype or Google Hangout.
The app may be free, but the data required to run the app isn't always free. QVC's Kindle rep isn't clarifying that.
