DVD player problem

I don't use my dvd player that is connected to the tv often. I tried last night and had a problem and maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am on the right channel for watching the dvd and I get a blue screen that says GE, the maker of the player, it will show loading and then I get a no disc message. I tried several different dvd's and got the same message. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong. I have a Christmas dvd I love to play and will miss it this year if I can't get the player working. Thanks.
