Customer service - Dell vs. HP

I've been hearing some negative things about Dell's customer service. The one thing that stands out is a claim someone made on another forum (not QVC) that Dell will scr*w you over if you bought your Dell from a vendor other than Dell themselves. For instance, if you need a laptop replaced while it's still under warranty, Dell will do everything possible not to replace it and will instead keep attempting to repair it until the warranty runs out.

What has everyone's experience been here with Dell's customer service? Is it really as bad as I've heard? Is HP's customer service any better? Please share. Thanks! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
