Computer slowed down

Not sure what is happening. Computer has really slowed down. I used CCleaner and I manually cleared history, cache, etc as well. I emailed someone who I thought was a friend and all he could think of was how much to charge me. So I am on my own as usual. Are there any programs that might make the computer faster. It just one delay after another. I have Windows 7 and I have security software on it. Don't think it is a virus. Computer is 7 years old.
