Computer question, hoping someone has a solution

About 5 months ago I bought a new Dell computer with Windows 7. When it came, I installed Firefox because I've heard that it is not as subject to viruses as IE. It worked fine up until a month ago when, all of a sudden, the Firefox stopped working...when I would click on it, a blank screen would come up and it would just sit there.

So, I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it, with the same result.

Anyone have any clues about why it would suddenly not work, or is my best bet to call Dell service.
