Comcast new offering is called X-1. It has cloud based storage. I have not had a DVR box for years. I never watched the shows I recorded. I just watch the shows I miss using an app on a tablet or even a smartphone.

That's what so nice about choices. I like watching on my 48" TV. The bigger the better. While I do occationally watch shows on my iPad, I prefer a big screen.

That's what so nice about choices. I like watching on my 48" TV. The bigger the better. While I do occationally watch shows on my iPad, I prefer a big screen.

Depending on how close you hold the tablet/smartphone, you can get a larger appearing screen than even the biggest screen at a theater. Hold a tablet at normal viewing distance up in front of you while sitting in your normal TV viewing position and compare the apparent screen size to your TV by sliding the tablet back and forth in front of the TV. A lot of videophiles now consider the VR headsets as the ultimate in viewing options, but they typically have very small screens held very close to the eyes. My seven inch tablet sitting on my chest has a larger apparent screen than my 42 inch HDTV eight feet away. Some of the small screens are now getting pretty impressive resolutions. A big screen is great if you're moving around, or if more than one person is watching, but for personal viewing a smaller screen held closer can be more immersive.

I have Comcast but, I did not get any new boxes. I think this is just a new idea to raise our already very high bill.

I cannot be certain, since Charter is my carrier, but all we did to get the newer boxes was to trade in the older ones. There was no difference in charges at all. It was just box-for-box - same monthly charge for a box.

I am surprised at you talking like this. I can hold my wife's 7" or 10.1 or 5" Galaxy, touching my eyeballs, and in comparison to my 110" front projector or my 65" curved screens?

Don't care what videophiles you are quoting, this videophile has seen from the last close to 40" years, what I see between my very first TV set, an RCA 1" up to and including my present 110" screen. If you think like I feel like I am still on the ice as a Ref for over 30 years replicates reality while looking at a cell phone screen in comparison to my 65" curve or my 110" screen? Hello!

Don't know your age, but I suggest you see your Opthamologist and see if you need cataract surgery. I had both my eyes done for a reason, up close anything, especially text? I needed the "tri" to be able to read or see clearly. I can now see very clearly, sans any lenses on my nose.

You, my friend must be having illusions or delusions if you actually believe this bull s...!

The new VR headsets that are out, with many more coming, are likely to change your perspective. The tech is pretty impressive and only likely to get better. They literally put the screen just inches from your eyes and the screens fill your field of view for an immersive experience. It's pretty neat stuff.

I tried to negotiate with that dumb Comcast to bring my bill down. They dropped it about $25 but I had to update those boxes. Free DVR for a year. Smart remote is COOL. All menu choices have pictures On Demand in addition to written descriptions. Hate Comcast but there is no competition. X1 is OK.
