Comcast Equipment Change - Anyone else get this call?

I got an automated call about changing equipment for better service. I only have basic cable. Has anyone else received this message?

This happened in our area several weeks ago.  We did not have television for many hours.  I called Comcast and was told it was needed to improve the Hi-Def visual aspect.  I have noticed a better/more realistic picture coloration and overall finer image since the upgrade.

I did not get the notice but I can tell you I am very dissatisfied with Comcast.  The problem is they are our only choice.  I would love to change to Verizon Fios but they don't have fiber optics in our area.

My main complaint is pricing.  I want basic cable because we don't need preimum channels but since we have two HD televisions I want HD cable.  Well, you can't get HD cable unless you also get all the premium channels.  And, the price keeps going up.  It is such a rip off.

If you are going to get better service does that mean your price will go up?

I got a written notice in the mail many months ago and just tossed it. But within the last month or so, we got new TVs and so I switched out for new boxes and then....got my first bill which was almost $50 less a month than before with the old boxes. I switched out the main box in the house and then 2 of the bedroom boxes for new. Got my last bill that was the same--$50 less. We have the basic package that now includes the HD stations so have more channels too. Am holding my breath however; you never know with Comcast.

You're lucky, I've never had a decrease in my cable bill.  But, like you said you never know.  Comcast seems to change prices whenever feel like it.

It's a bit of a pain, but if you can remember to call periodically you can get more for less with Comcast. And as far as premium channels, they often run special pricing to get you hooked. You can jump from one to another and back to the one you had for a discounted price. It's too much trouble for me, but lots of people do it.

I don't have HD TV. Just an old Panasonic that is still working just fine. They want me to make an appointment but I have no idea what they plan to do. The voicemail does not give any details.

I do not trust Comcast so I am trying to find out the specifics before contacting them.

Never deal w/a service rep if you want a better deal w/cable companies.  Always deal w/a supervisor and/or manager.  Better yet their  retention dept.

If you are a "good" customer (never late paying bill) and been w/Comcast for 2+ yrs, you can pretty much get exactly what you want.

Less that 2+ yrs.....

NEGOTIATE.....NEGOTIATE....NEGOTIATE

Another way to get great deals is to find out who is the sales VP in your area.

Write a letter to this person.  Be polite yet firm about what you want.  Include your phone # as well as your acct #.

cc the letter to the owner of Comcast...

Brian L. Roberts, Chairman & CEO

Comcast Corporation
Comcast Center
1701 JFK Boulevard
Philadelphia, PA 19103

SNAIL MAIL the letter.  NEVER email.
