So I have had my Clickfree for yrs.  I dutifully have backed up every month.  Then a couple of weeks ago my pc died, so I have purchased a new windows 10 pc.  First thing I have learned is my model Clickfree only supported thru Vista.  I had no idea.  So does anyone have an idea whether a transfer of that data will work?  And if it does, is it just file data?  I cant remember whether it also captured the program files.

I have a click free too with lots of data on it. They went out of business. It was a good easy product to use. I guess I would fool with it to see if you can transfer the data. There might be a device that you can use to send data over from the click free to your computer.

Unfortunately, it probably won't work.  When you use a program or utility to create a backup file, you need the program or utilty to open it. It's the reason I also manually save my data using the drag and drop method.  Did your computer die because of a hard drive failure?  If not, take it out of the computer, install it into an external hard drive enclosure (you can buy them at an electroinc store or online retailer), connect it to your new computer and recover your files using File Explorer.

@glb613 Pretty surefrom the beeps and light colors that it gave before it drew its last breath that it was the mother board from what I have read since.  Clearly I am not very knowledgeable in these regards so my fingers are crossed.  I am going to take old and new to Best Buy and pray they can recover everything from the hard drive.  Now going forward what kind of external drive would you recommend for me to get for backup?

I have multiple external hard drives but, I prefer the portable ones that connect with a USB cable to your computer.  They are small and don't need a separate power supply.  Some come with backup software located on the drive which I never use.  I do create backups using Time Machine which is an Apple utility but, I also use the drag and drop method.
