Is anyone else receiving these Presidential Alerts?
I Googled it & said it would happen to most cell phones today twice. Mine keeps receiving it. I don't need it. It's suppose to be a system in case of war or terrorist attack. I wonder what is really going on? We all know they are not going to notify us in case of war or terrorist attack because everyone would panic.
It says you cannot OPT OUT. LOL!!! I'm opting out. I took my battery out of my phone so it will stop coming in.

@Nightowlz That's weird that it keeps coming......maybe you have to open and read it before it will stop?? Here in the office, we were aware it was coming at 2:18pm. Lots of phones went off (including mine), but only one time, and then it was over.

I have a Galaxy S7 Edge. I am not getting any emergency alerts on my phone, including amber alerts, and haven't been in at least a year. I think one of the updates wiped out the alerts. There are a lot of complaints on various blogs about this happening with this particular phone. I've followed the instructions per Verizon to make sure my alerts are turned on.
However, when I go to alerts my phone will NOT allow me to turn off Presidential alerts. It indicates on my phone they are required.
I did not get any alerts on my phone at 2:18 today but I heard others' phones going off. My DH and I both have the same phone and are both having the same problem.

I did not receive it on my phone (though I've always received Amber alerts and storm alerts). I did receive the notice on my TV. It did appear, however, that it only came through on the network channels, not cable. It was a red scroll bar across the top of the screen, so when I flipped over the HSN, there was no notice, though it was still scrolling when I flipped back to network. Hmm.

This was just a test....I am sure there are bugs to work out yet..

This has been in place for a few years, though no one has ever used it. Please dont connect it to you know who....is from Homeland Security. I think its nice that someone has finally tested it.

@Lipstickdiva That's interesting. I have a smartphone (LG Tracfone, Verizon network), and I don't even have my data turned on here at work (only use the wi fi at home for that), so the alert must come through the Verizon texts.

DH and I both have Android phones and he received an alert but I didn’t. When we were eating lunch, all the TVs in the restaurant got the alert.

I got mine once too. Our school principal emailed us about it so I was ready.
