Can't update my iPad2

to OS 6.1 I think because I never updated to 6.0.1. I downloaded 6.0.1 but never installed it. And now 6.0.1 won't install (probably because Apple doesn't have it anymore) and it tells me it can't verify the update because I'm not connected to the internet but I am.
