I know a small magnet that was on the side of one of my instruments at work did screw up the internal computer. So I'd avoid magnets.

But there are covers & cases for these things with magnets in them aren't there?

I could totally be wrong, but I recall the magnet thing being about when computers had floppy disc drives.
I guess better safe than sorry (sorry - I hate cliches). ![]()

I read part of that thread, and it appears that it depends on how close the magnet is.
chickenbutt, it's the same technology for floppy drives and hard drives. Only the medium has changed.
