My wonderful camera's lens stuck. Apparently it is our of warantee but the situation is a known problem. The camera was not cheap and has served me well for three years. It is a Canon G-9. I don't know what to do. I am assuming Canon and the camera store will not give me any satisfaction (my luck).

What should I buy? Looking for

-small, compact

-sharp pictures with a good lens

-uses large memory card

-rechargeable battery

-face detention

-image stabilization

Advice about what to replace it with and advice from someone who may have had this problem and resolved the issue. I am not going to pay big bucks to fix it.
