The CD player in my older Bose wave just suddenly quit working.  I do not want to spend $$ replacing it with another Bose and I am looking for a CD player to replace it.  Any brand suggestions?  I know streaming is the in thing now but I have so many CD's that I still love listening to.

I know what you mean.  I only listened to cds in the car and they don't put the players in the new cars anymore.

Honestly, if you are used to listening to your music on a Bose, you might be disappointed with anything else.  I don't have a Bose, but my Mother in law does and it is everything they say it is.

I just thought of something.  The player she has is one of the first ones and her CD player stopped working a couple of years ago.

We unplugged it for a minute or so and plugged it back in and it has been working ever since.  It's worth a try.

I would try unplugging it from the wall and then clean the CD player with a CD-cleaning kit.

Thanks for the tips but I tried all of those (more than once) and it did not work.  I plan to call BOSE but when my CD exchanger stopped working after about 5 years they said they might repair it for around $100  I did not do it.

So did mine.  I am using a boom box I have had for years, but the sound is not the same of course.

The other day, either HSN or QVC was selling a boombox. They didn't call it that and boy was it expensive.  Mine has radio,  CD player and also can play  cassettes.  I paid under 40 for it years ago and it still works.

I can't use my Boise radio, because it makes a knocking sound where the CD use to play, even without a CD in it.

Bose has never been my choice, but that aside. I have heard them and seen a few my friends purchased, but these were the 1st Bose to have CD players.

Questions: What Inputs are available on your Bose?

If it has an Aux Input, you have to see what type of cable it will accept.

I know some have an Aux Input, and with most electronics, those are to add a wired external device. You can buy a CD player from Amazon for under $40, some even come with a cable.

Got any questions, answer my above, and maybe we can figure it out by you asking more. I'm game!

@bargainsgirl  My Bose CD stopped working after many years of delightful listening. Trouble was: a CD from the library was inside the player!! Since I had to return the CD to the library, I had to have a local repair place retrieve the CD and repair my Bose. Fortunately, they only charged $40.00. It was done within 36 hours and I'm happily listening to my Bose CD again. Well worth finding a repair shop to fix your Bose IMHO!

Spend the $$, girl!

DS has a LOT of cd's and I bought him two Sony models on Amazon. One quit after a year. Stupid me bought another Sony. At 6mos THAT quit.  I dinked around with Sony warranty for days.

He pitched the second Sony and I got him a Bose last Christmas.  He is thrilled.

Make sure to check cash back sites

Hi John,

Thanks for the tip about the aux.  I will def try that.  I am pretty lame about electonics but this might do the trick.  I see lots of players on Amazon... The Bose radio still works so with the aux I can use a cd player and stream from my tablet correct?  I read that cd players do just die out after some time.  Not worth repairing in most cases.
