Hello everyone. I am told that a lot of you are techies so could you read this rather long post and perhaps answer if you have some ideas? Thanks. Below is a message I sent to Karen and it was suggested I write to you Electronics people. I have a piggyback virus on my computer. I have all kinds of protection but I have it. Norton (I am on Comcast) tells me that they cannot see this virus. My son at Christmas looked through my stuff and found a hinky looking .exe and looked at it to delete it and it would not let him. He told me it was pervasive throughout my computer and to take my hard drive in and get it wiped. Like I know what that means! I have since written on a number of threads about Promnet, ltd. They are in Ukraine and I have the IP address which is 85.255.112.121. I also have their ISP address, their website and their email address because they have an American coupon company called Groupon, Your City Guide. Some people on the Q blogs wrote to me and said that they have used the company and it is reputible AND they said they have no virus. This is after I warned them not to use that company because I think anyone who does, has this virus. They THINK they have no virus but if the above IP address is just from one person, perhaps they don't. I have been to Odessa. I have seen business people. I would not trust any company from the Eastern Block and I am really sorry to say this but everyone is out to make an illegal buck. Here is my letter to Karen on the other Q blog. CAN ANYONE HELP ME? CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE? PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN GIVE ME. Thank you very much. Letter................Karen, thank you so very, very much. You have given me the best info so far. I never open anything, neither does my DH unless we know who it is from. I have two ideas where it came from. UTube...my granddaughter had posted some of her animal pictures so I looked at them. I know better than to look at UTube but I did it because I thought I had the best protection. Second, I think my husband opens mail from his friends and then downloads the pictures or whatever beautiful flyover of something they have and it could have gotten attached from that. Since the IP address is from one computer at Promnet in Odessa I have written to them. Goodness knows what will come from that but I hate them. Every iffy person in the world is out to make a buck off of stupid Americans. Believe me, I have traveled the world. They think we are stupid and it is true. We are way too friendly and trusting. We can't help it, even though we tried a few months ago, we are friendly people. They really can't wait to take advantage of us. We are old but not falling for the scams. I worry about the old people like us who are trusting (as we really were). I think my problem is just the beginning of what is going to happen to every person who owns a computer in America. Someone is going to hack in or whatever and attach their virus. The guy in Ukraine used my computer to access Google Earth and looked up hotels in St. Petersberg and Helsinki so I guess he travels for the company. He could have but didn't, access out bank accounts. I so wish I were computer savy enough to go right back at him and burn him. How do I find someone like that? My next door neighbor has an advanced degree from Cal in Computer Science but I am really hesitant to ask for his help. I want some hacker that wll take some bucks from me and get rid of this guy. It costs more than $100 to have some guy come out and fix it. This is what I am going to do unless I advertise for a hacker. lol
