Where to buy a modem. Our local Staples doesn't sell them anymore. Ordered one from Staples on line, after 2 months it doesn't work. Looking for store that sells them.

TIA

If your cable modem is two months old it came with a warranty. You should contact the manufacturer for a replacement. Most companies have web sites and support phone #.

I brought a new cable modem last week for my internet service with Comcast/Xfinity. I do not have telephone/voice service.

Each company has an approved list of products. http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/residential-home/support/topics/internet/buy-your-modem.html

You should call you cable company and ask if the Zoom 5341J will run with your service. I like this product, because it is not too old, and has an on off switch. I found it at Amazon. It is about $70.

I just bought one on Ebay. I wrote down the model number from the modem that Time Warner leased to me, and found the same one on Ebay. I think I got it for about $10-15.00

Time Warner was charging me $7 a month to "rent" one.

You do not know the history of a cable modem purchased on ebay. It could be lost or stolen. The modem does not have a warranty.

I get all my electronics on Amazon. They do have cable modems. The reason I get mine there is the guarantee. Even if the seller is third party, Amazon will refund your money if you have an issue. They have free shipping most of the time (over $25 or if you have Prime.) Can't beat it.

Amazon CS, and prices are great. I do not buy marketplace electronics from Amazon. I only buy from the parent. I will buy CD,DVD's etc from a third party vendor.

The regular cable modem linked Motorola SB6121 is an older product and has an updated item SB6141. If you can use the Zoom the price is less for a comparable product. I read somewhere Motorola is releasing a new product in July 2014.

Please Check your approved cable company list before buying a modem.

I recently switched to Comcast and bought the Motorola SB6121 from Amazon. It may be an ""older"" product but it's still a DOCSIS 3.0 so it won't need upgraded anytime soon.
