I hardly ever use my mobile, and I am thinking of switching to Tracfone. Are you all happy with Tracfone service & general policies?
TIA!

Yes. Since I only use my LG800 Tracfone to make a few calls each month, it's the least expensive cell phone plan I can find. I know their customer service dept. can be frustrating, from what I hear on these boards, but I really have never had to deal with CS. For me, it was easy to set up and activate the phone, transfer my number to the new phone, and call another number to get the extra minutes. The instructions are included with the phone package.
So, for someone like me it has been a good deal.

Being a happy customer with Tracfone is finding out first what cell tower the phone you purchase will be bouncing off on in your local area - or where you'll use your phone the most.
For example, the most dependable (I asked friends and neighbors) cell service in my area is Verizon, but Tracfone also sells mobile phones that use AT&T towers - which AT&T service here isn't that great, so I just made sure the phone I purchased uses Verizon and I was all set. Another thing I learned, set up an online account at the Tracfone website - there you can activate and register your phone, purchase and add minutes and so on. I also suggest purchasing a phone with the double or triple minutes promotion so each time you purchase a new minute card, it adds the doubled or tripled bonus minutes.

Yep. It does everything I need it to do. I got one for my mother, but she isn't so happy. She has an LG840 and can't figure out how to use it. She is better with a flip phone. I guess if one isn't adaptable to a more modern phone, there could be issues. I'm going to see her next week and we'll have another show and tell.

This pretty much sums it up. Where I live Tracfone uses both ATT and Verizon towers, whichever it picks up the strongest signal.
I love my Tracfone.

Been a happy user of their service of over 9 years now and with about that many different phones. Have always bought a new phone from hsn as it is upgraded over the one I had the previous year and cost less than adding minutes.
If there is a better service I can find for $5.95 that I can find for talk/text and data? I haven't heard of it. TracFone also uses 2 major carriers in AT&T and T-Mobile, at least I have had those 2 with every TracFone service and phone I have used and am still using.

I have had a tracfone for 7 years and 3 phones now and I'm very happy to be free of my old contract phone from Verizon. And, yes, tracfone does use both AT&T and verizon cell towers - I have not yet been anywhere I wanted to use my phone and not had service. For the last year I have had an LG 840g - nice phone, easy to use. However, I buy my cell phones at Radio Shack and the person who works there sets it up for you and transfers your min over - so I have not personally ever dealt with the customer service - which I understand from this BB is terrible. You don't need CS to set the phone up but you do to transfer min. from an old phone to a new one.

I've had Samsung and LG phones with Tracfone prepaid service for many years now, and very much prefer this service over any contract.
Go for it! 8-)
