If you have a first generation Apple Pencil do not put it away and store it to use later. You have to keep charging it when the battery goes low or the battery will be permanently dead when you take it out later to try to use it. This just happened to me and I spent hours checking online to learn why my Pencil was charging and then immediately losing its charge. I had only used my Pencil a few time when I put it in its box to store for later use months ago.

Thank  you for this information. I bought my iPad Pro and Apple pencil to use with it for work. I'm a musician, and I keep all my choral music on my iPad and notate it with my Apple pencil. Since the pandemic, we are doing all our services on Zoom. (I'm a church music director), so I haven't used my iPad, but.......I like to use Happy Color on that iPad, so I've been using the Apple pencil with that every day. I'm glad I have been from what you are saying, so thanks again.
