Avast is not a Trojan.
It's a legitimate antivirus program.
When I was using a PC with Windows, I used it on my desktop computer without any problems.
I no longer use a Windows-based computer, so I no longer use it. I would still recommend it to someone, if they are looking for an antivirus program for their computer.
It's possible that you installed a free version from somewhere that had other free software and toolbars attached to it through the download.
If that's what happened, you have to be careful to click off on that free software that you don't want it, as you are doing the installation.
