Re: Any way I can get less junk phone calls?

Some of us still have landlines because we live in an area with no/limited cell phone signals.

I just don't understand why people still choose to have a landline phone and then continue to complain about the unwanted calls they receive. We only have our cell phones and my life has been made soooo much easier! I get absolutely NO unwanted calls whatsoever. I never get political calls, I never get any peddlers calling me. Never. Why go through life with such annoyances? I just don't get it.

We have a landline for emergency purposes. Our police and fire have a "reverse 911" capability which does not work on cell phones - only landlines. My husband and I both have cell phones and we both receive spam texts and calls - most of them robocalls.

We use both nomorobo.com and the CPR V202 call blocker. The nomorobo is free and the CPR V202 has no charge after the initial purchase. I love it!

Re: Any way I can get less junk phone calls?

I have a landline phone because:

1. It is attached to something.. I can find it

2. It is part of a Comcast package

3. I have a cool phone number and don't want to ever lose it.

4. Signals in our neck of the woods are not as strong as they are elsewhere. Nothing like not having a connection just when you need it.

So I can put up with the FUN CALLS. And as I have previously stated it makes my day to mess with those who are trying so hard to fool me. NEVER MESS WITH A RETIRED TEACHER.. BEEN THERE--- DONE THAT.

Following your link I was able to get to the question and answer forum on Amazon for your device. Here ya go:

To reverse blocking of a number: 1. Press "BLACKLIST." 2. Scroll the blacklisted numbers with the arrow keys until the number you want unblocked appears on the screen. 3. Press "REMOVE" then "SET." That's it! Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks again! Have a great day, Matt Thompson ProCallBlock

Bless you, curlywhitedog! I will try this tonight and see if I can restore a couple needed numbers. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me, it is sincerely appreciated!

Which is why we have at least one corded telephone (yes, those old-fashioned thingies that plug into the wall and don't need electricity to work!). It's often the only thing in our house that's functional when there's a storm and we have no electricity or other 'modern' conveniences!

Do not call registry is useless. (most of my calls come to my home phone but are now coming to my cell. New tactic... calling me by my first name. If it is a robo call I simply hang up. If it is a real person, THEY ARE IN FOR THE RIDE OF THEIR LIFE. I GIVE THEM ALL I GOT TO KEEP THEM ON, CONFUSED, WHATEVER. I PRACTICE A COMEDY ACT or something like that. My record time on the phone with them is now up to 30 minutes. Heck I am retired and need a diversion. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Again, do not answer a call from a number you don't know, answering it lets someone know it is a good number to pass down the food chain.

Sadly, the really annoying and most prevalant are POLITCAL CALLS Those are really a pain in the a. I don't need someone to tell me who to vote for and sorry, but charities can be annoying as well- I pick who I want to give to- I can't donate to everyone and I am aware that not all are using donations to actually benefit who they call for.In that case "Don't call me, I'll call you" applies.

If you lived through some of the things that many of us have, you would probably "get it". I've been in several stressful, tragic situations when cell phones were completely useless and only people with landlines could call for help, find their loved ones, and get news from the outside world.

Having a landline is not really an annoyance to me because I keep the ringer off most of the time, so it never interrupts me. I'm not even aware anyone is calling. I listen to messages when I feel like it, and I delete the ones I have no use for. No big deal at all.

I love my cell, but will never be without a landline.

(People get unwanted calls on their cell phones too.)

In my experience they're not the most prevalent. I can't remember the last time I got a political call. And I far prefer those to calls that tell people they're in trouble with the IRS, or try to sell something based on "a friend referred you", or falsely inform people that they've won some kind of prize. Those are the kinds of calls that scam people into giving money, and those are the kinds of calls we need protection from.

Political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call registry. I don't mind those calls at all, especially since they only happen around election time and they're not viciously motivated. Calls from charities are exempt also.
