I received a strange message this morning on my laptop: "Windows has detected an IP address conflict. Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact your system administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows System event log."
I guess I'm the system administrator and I don't know what this means. Should I be worried? We also have a desktop in the house. Would that be the same IP address? I looked at the system event log and that's Greek to me too.
Can anyone tell me if this is serious, and do I need to do something?

I googled and from what I read, it's nothing to panic about, just annoying.
Here's a link that explains it and several ways to get rid of it, HTH!

Thank you @KingstonsMom for the link. I will read up on it.
And @Nuttmeg thank you for the additional suggestion. I didn't think of that and it makes sense. I really appreciate the responses.
