Well, so far I've had no issues with mine. I am not, however, convinced that spending $99 for what is essentially just a nice speaker was a wise decision. I already had an assortment of speakers and really didn't need another. I can ask it about the time, weather etc., but I have other efficient sources for that information. Unless they come up with some other uses for this device, I'm not sure everyone needs one.

HelicopterMom, it doesn't tell you to do anything. You boss it around and it obeys instantly, quite a difference from a passel of kids.

Well mine was supposed to be delivered today, Wednesday, only to find that the post office sorted it to the wrong zip code. They said I'll receive it tomorrow. Not having a lot of faith in USPS, I'll believe it when I see it. And not sure what condition it might be in by then.

To update: So despite what the post office told me. shortly after my post, my doorbell rang and it was another driver delivering my package. I'll probably not get to play with it until later this week. But it has arrived. Very interesting packaging. Inside the Amazon carton, a totally black sleeve. After breaking the seals, there was a totally black package. After breaking that seal, voila!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very "clandestine"!!!!!!

To update: Got my Echo set up with morning. I'm not a techie and am not yet real comfortable with my iPhone, so I did the setup via my laptop. I did need to call Echo Tech Support for some assistance, but - as with all Amazon C/S people - she was patient and very helpful. I haven't done whole lot of playing with it just yet, but I've asked it to play a couple of songs, just by asking by the title of the song I wanted. She played the appropriate selections from the Amazon library of songs, at this point. This is super cool!!!!! Excellent sound quality!

I think it would be so cool if they would release at least early next week to everyone who has requested an invite. What a super Christmas gift it would be for those who want one!

I'd love to get one before Christmas but the last round of invites seemed to have been more limited than the earlier ones, so they could be running out of them. The first few rounds of invites would have many people on the Kindle forums celebrating getting one. This last round I only remember seeing one person getting an invite and lots of other people left hoping. I'm not sure we'll have a fourth round of invites going out. We'll have to see what happens. There were lots of happy campers after each of the first two rounds of invites, but that third round of invites appears to have been much more limited in scope. (Either that or those who got it aren't active posters.) I'm still holding onto my money in the hope that I'll get one, but I'm not overly optimistic. We'll see what happens next week.

My Echo came on all by itself last night, playing a Nat King Cole song. I had the TV on and something must have sounded like "Alexa" to the Echo.

Is there a way of turning it off when not in use so it doesn't accidentally go off? That would freak me out if I was in the house alone!
