I have it. I've been playing with it all weekend. It's awesome. I wanted a radio for the kitchen-living room area, and this is much more. I can check weather, make a shopping list, play playlists of music, ask for random music, play Iheartradio. The sound is excellent. I just have to talk to it to get it to do this and that.

Awesome...DW

It works like a kitchen timer, too. You tell it how many minutes, and you can check how many left by asking. I'm using this Echo a lot.

I am so jealous. I buy a lot from Amazon and I am dissapointed that I haven't gotten an invite yet. I signed up right away.

May I ask if you have any idea how they picked who gets invitations? Do you buy a lot? Do you do a lot of reviews?

Thanks!

Prime members got an invitation. From what I understand, they had a limited number of them, and the offers expire in a week, so it's possible if you have Amazon Prime, you could still get an invitation.

The unit does use Amazon Prime (for music, for example) so it's an advantage to have that service and the Echo. I use my Prime membership for downloading videos. Not as good a selection as Netflix, but with the free 2 day shipping, which I use for business, it's a good deal. The music enhances that even more, now.

I'm a prime member and have been for a few years. I buy a LOT. I mean more than the average person, especially this last year. I really hope I get one!

I actually want two. I am willing to pay full price for one if I can get one for $99. I wouldn't want to buy one for quite a while though. They might think if I'm willing to pay full price, they won't send me the offer for $99. So I'll wait until I'm sure I won't get an offer before I buy one at full price.

Thanks for your information.

I'm pretty sure there was a limit of ONE per Prime invitation. The offer went out Nov 18, so seven days would be today or tomorrow for expiration of any unclaimed offers. I can buy another, but at the full price

Knowing Amazon, when the full launch takes place (not sure when) they will have a sale on it. Like the Kindles, which drop about $30 or so at Christmas.

Oh yea, I'm totally willing to pay full price for one. I just don't want to purchase one at full price because I'm afraid they won't give me the half price offer.

Today is Tuesday and no offer yet. I keep checking. I'm thinking they will be half price for all Prime members on Black Friday. Well....I'm wishful thinking anyway.

A lot of customers (and I mean a lot) who were passed over the first time have found themselves able to buy one now. I unfortunately am not included among those. I'm still getting the "Thank you for your request" page instead of the order page. It pays to go to the Echo page to see if your status has changed as none of those now able to buy got the e-mail telling them they could buy, they just found out that buying was now enabled for them. (I'm also still getting absolutely no e-mails from Amazon despite three tries now to fix that issue.)
